Waterhead Academy students celebrate exam success
Waterhead Academy students celebrate exam success following the publication of the GCSE and vocational results this morning. Despite the challenges of the last few years, there were tears of joy with the vast majority securing places at their chosen college, apprenticeship or employment.
Our students were celebrating with top grades in a range of subjects including Head Girl; Niamh looking forward to studying A-Levels at Oldham Sixth Form College in politics, English Literature and Sociology.
Another exceptional performance was from Habiba who achieved high grades and is also looking forward to studying A-Levels at Oldham Sixth Form College in Biology, Psychology and Sociology.
There were a number of students who exceeded expectations, we are incredibly proud of and achieved incredible progress in their time at Waterhead including Michael who will be studying A-Levels at Clarendon Sixth Form College in maths, computer science and Chemistry.
James Wilson, Principal at Waterhead Academy said: "With marking boundaries restored to their pre-pandemic levels, we are especially proud of the achievements and resilience of our year 11 students. Their outcomes are testament to their hard work, commitment and ability, as well as the academic, pastoral and careers support and guidance they receive at Waterhead".
“Whilst students are a lot more than a set of grades, the qualifications they have achieved are a passport to the next phase of their education, training or employment. We are delighted that many will now go on to pursue their passions in a diverse range of fields – from Engineering, Health and Literature to, Sport and Politics. I have every confidence that, whatever their next steps, they are all capable of achieving great things and we wish them all the very best for a successful and happy future".
