• Friday 23 September 2022 MVP Programme at Manchester United Yesterday I took six of our students to Old Trafford for the day. The reason for this visit, was for the students to attend a full days training around the Menor in Violence Prevention programme. During our time together we look into the qualities needs to be a good mentor, Idols and the impact they have on others and also the expectations of the actual role for our six mentors. We finished our training by going on a Stadium Tour!

• Friday 1 July 2022 Man Utd Foundation VR competition The picture belowshows our winning team from the Manchester United first hub schools "Virtual Reality" competition.All fourrepresented the school in a positive manner and were very respectful to the staff members at Kingswayand the other Man Utd Hub Officers.

• Thursday 16 June 2022 More Jubilation from Waterhead Academy We are so proud of Abigail in Year 9 who is a drummer with the group Jubacana which is part of Global Grooves.
• Wednesday 8 June 2022 Platinum Jubilee Pageant London We are so proud of our fabulous students who participated in the Queens Jubilee pageant on Sunday in London. Some are pictured here.
• Friday 27 May 2022 Manchester United Foundation Legends of the North These lucky winners who had all made a great contribution to the academy were chosen to receive two tickets each to the Legends of the North match between Manchester United and Liverpool. Sadly for the United fans, Liverpool ended 3-1 winners - but at least Mr Lyon was happy - and most importantly, £1.3m was raised to support the MU Foundation's work with young people across the region.

• Wednesday 30 March 2022 Oldham Year 7 Netball Winners Congratulations toour Year 7 netball team whohave been crowned Oldham Schools League Champions. The girls have won the league without losing a game all season. The team then took part in the Oldham Schools Rally and came runners up, after narrowly missing out on first place; whilst Ava Brown was also awarded player of the tournament! The majority of these girls had never played netball before joining Waterhead Academy.Well done to theteamfor this fantastic achievement!

• Friday 11 March 2022 Oldham Cup Winners - Year 10 Well done to our Year 10 football teams who emulated our Year 7 team by winning the Oldham Cup!

• Friday 22 October 2021 Success for WA Girls A combined team of year 9,10 and 11 students won the Manchester United HUB tournament. Our girls won 4-3 on penalties in the final with a special mention to Megan in goal saving the 4th penalty in the final??

• Friday 8 October 2021 Senior Students Selection After an excellent day of interviews in which students had to answer a wide range of questions about what they would bring to the role and how they would work to support students and the academy, four students were selected for the senior positions.

We’ve entered in theFun & Active Playgroundscompetition and are in with a chance of winning a playground transformation worth £3000 in time for the new academic year! We’re crossing our fingers as theSilver Sports Packageincludes 6 bright and colourful playground markings that encourage physical play and activity. With a Netball Court, Dance With Me, Active Trail, Jump Game, Dartboard and 4-Way Hopscotch – the range of markings can be used to enhance breaktimes and PE lessons!
• Tuesday 11 May 2021 Mental Health Kite Award for Waterhead Academy Waterhead Academy has been awarded the prestigious Kitemark Status in recognition of the planning and implementation of the Bounce Forward-Healthy Minds Curriculum. The Healthy Minds Curriculum supports with the implementation of the Department for Education (DFE) statutory Health Curriculum framework.

The awards are for making the right choices, receiving a lot of achievement points, and excelling in nearly every subject during the first term back.
